Incident IQ alternative

An Incident IQ alternative for K-12 districts.

Help desk, device inventory and facilities work orders for school districts, at a published price.

No card, no sales call, nothing converts on its own.

What you gain

What a technology director notices first.

A price you can compute

$1 per student per year, $900 minimum, locked for three years. Calculator on the pricing page.

Every module, unlimited agents

Tickets, devices, facilities, HR requests, knowledge base, automations, single sign-on, API, reports and AI. Nothing sold separately.

A pilot you start yourself

The full District plan, with sample tickets and devices loaded.

Migration in an afternoon

Admin → Import reads Incident IQ's own CSV exports: history, dates and, if you want, ticket numbers. No onboarding fee.

Chromebooks from Google Admin

Connected once, read nightly, read-only. Annotated locations become rooms and carts. How the sync works.

Rooms, carts and labels

Where a device is and who holds it are separate facts. Labels print on rolls, sheets or a custom size. Asset management · Labels.

AI that sorts, a person who decides

Suggested category, priority, team and article on every ticket. A person closes tickets and sends replies. Each AI feature can be turned off.

Your data, any time

JSON and CSV export on every plan, and for 90 days after you leave.

Hosting you choose

Beacon's cloud with database-enforced tenant isolation, or your own servers (Enterprise, quote-based from $15,000 per year).

What you give up

What Incident IQ has that Beacon does not.

Device syncs from Jamf and SCCM

Incident IQ's apps and integrations page lists device syncs with Jamf Pro, Jamf School, Microsoft Intune, Microsoft SCCM and Mosyle Manager. Beacon syncs Chromebooks from Google Admin, managed devices from Intune and iPads, iPhones, Macs and Apple TVs from Mosyle Manager, read-only and nightly. Jamf and SCCM devices come in from a CSV or a paste.

Roster and SIS sync

The same page lists student information systems, PowerSchool, Infinite Campus, Skyward and ClassLink's SIS integration among them, and ClassLink again under single sign-on. Beacon syncs staff and students nightly from PowerSchool, with grade, homeroom and classes, and students from ClassLink or a OneRoster export; Clever is a sign-in provider.

An installed base

Incident IQ has years of district references. Beacon's hosted service opened in September 2026, so judge it on the dated About page and changelog.

A sales team

Incident IQ's site offers a demo request, not a sign-up. Beacon is self-serve, and hello@beaconhelpdesk.com answers within one business day.

Incident IQ details on this page are general statements from its public materials as of October 2026, linked where a page exists. It does not publish prices, so this page makes no claim about what it would charge you. Incident IQ is a trademark of its owner; Beacon is not affiliated with or endorsed by it.

The import path

Three files, in order.

Export Users, Assets and Tickets as CSV into Admin → Import. The import page lists every column, the switching guide every hour.

1. Export with every column

The exports we have seen include only the columns in the current list view, so show all columns first. Files up to 5 MB, about 20,000 rows: split a long ticket history by school year and import oldest first.

2. Import users, devices, tickets

Users first, so technicians exist before their tickets arrive. Devices match by asset tag or serial number.

3. Check, fix, run it again

Each job ends with counts, unmatched values and a downloadable list of row errors. A re-run updates, never duplicates.

What carries over

  • People, with their Incident IQ user ID. Agent and Technician become agents, Admin becomes admin, everyone else a requester.
  • Devices, with their Incident IQ asset ID, warranty and price. Rooms become locations.
  • Tickets, with their Incident IQ number and ID, dates, categories and tags.
  • Ticket numbers, when Keep the exported ticket numbers is on.
  • Chromebooks also in Google Admin: connect the sync after the import and they match by serial number, not duplicated.

What does not

  • Attachments. The CSV exports we have seen carry no files. With your Incident IQ API token, hello@beaconhelpdesk.com can bring them across.
  • Notifications, automations, SLA clocks and AI triage. Nobody is emailed by an import.
  • Your Incident IQ configuration. Categories, SLA targets, routing rules and portal text are set up again, from district defaults: a Classroom Down SLA around the clock, a Facilities team, nine asset types.
  • Device syncs from Jamf or SCCM, and roster syncs from a student information system other than PowerSchool. See what Beacon does not do.

Pricing, as published

A quote is arithmetic.

Tiers apply marginally, like tax brackets.

StudentsPer student per year
1 – 5,000$1.00
5,001 – 20,000$0.85
20,001 and above$0.70
Minimum$900 per year, for the whole district: IT help desk, 1:1 devices and facilities work orders together

Free 90-day pilot

Every module, unlimited agents. On day 90, sign at the published price or export your data.

Switching from Incident IQ

Run Beacon free until your Incident IQ term ends, up to 12 months, so you never pay twice. Your paid term starts the day theirs ends.

Starter, free for good

One school, up to 3 agents and 1,000 devices, unlimited requesters, with tickets, devices, knowledge base and portal. A one-site district can use it instead of the $900 minimum.

No per-device or per-requester charge. Purchase orders, annual invoice in advance, W-9 on request. Enrollment is your latest official count, staff not counted. How districts buy Beacon.

Not yet

What Beacon does not do today.

The full list is on the About page.

No sync from SCCM or Jamf

Those devices come in from a CSV or a paste, matched by asset tag or serial number.

No roster sync from Clever

Accounts are created on first sign-in, and people sync nightly, read-only, from Google Workspace or Microsoft Entra with title, phone and site, from PowerSchool with grade, homeroom and classes, and students from ClassLink or a OneRoster export with school, grade and student ID. Guardians do not.

Questions

Asked by districts weighing the switch.

Is Beacon a direct replacement for Incident IQ?

For tickets, devices, facilities work orders, the knowledge base and portal, single sign-on and reports, yes, and the import brings your history with it. Devices sync from Google Admin, Intune and Mosyle Manager, and people from Google Workspace or Microsoft Entra, read-only and nightly. Staff and students sync from PowerSchool with their school, grade level, homeroom and classes. Students also come from ClassLink or any OneRoster export. For device syncs from Jamf or SCCM, no: those devices come in from a CSV or a paste from a spreadsheet, guardians are not synchronized, and Clever works for sign-in only.

How long does the migration take?

An afternoon for a mid-sized district. The switching guide walks through one o'clock to five: organization, single sign-on, sites and teams, then the three imports, then categories, email forwarding and the portal. Larger ticket histories run in the background while you do the next step, and files are split at 5 MB, about 20,000 rows each.

Will we lose our ticket numbers or history?

No. Turn on Keep the exported ticket numbers and import oldest first, and Incident IQ numbers are reused where they are unused and higher than the last one Beacon assigned; Beacon's counter jumps ahead so new tickets keep counting up. Either way the Incident IQ number and ID stay on every imported ticket, created, resolved and closed dates are kept, and the comments column becomes one internal note titled Imported history.

What does Beacon cost a district?

$1 per student per year for the first 5,000 students, $0.85 per student from 5,001 to 20,000, $0.70 above that, applied marginally, with a $900 per year minimum. Every module, unlimited agents, sites, requesters and devices, no onboarding fee, and the price is locked for three years. The pilot is free for 90 days with no card, and Starter is free for good for one school. Pricing.

Can we run both systems for a while?

Yes. Keep Incident IQ read-only for 30 days while new tickets go to Beacon, with your help address forwarded to your Beacon ticket address. At cut-over, export the tickets changed since the switch and import them; only new ones are created and the rest are skipped.

What about our Chromebooks in Google Admin?

A Workspace administrator connects Google Admin once from Admin → Import. Beacon reads every Chrome device each night, read-only, matches the devices you imported by serial number rather than duplicating them, assigns devices from the annotated user, and turns annotated locations into rooms and carts at the right site. Nothing is ever written to Google. Chromebook asset management.

Does Beacon print asset labels?

Yes. Each label carries the asset tag in large type, a Code 128 barcode, a QR code that opens the device in Beacon, the serial, make and model and your district's name. Stocks are Dymo 30252 and 30336, Brother DK-1201, Avery 5160 and 5163 sheets, or a custom size. Print one from the device page, a selection from the list, every device an import created, or one after each scan. Labels, in detail.

Is Beacon safe for student data?

Every district lives behind Postgres row-level security. Beacon acts as a school official under FERPA, follows COPPA and SOPIPA, signs the SDPC National Data Privacy Agreement and state addenda on request, and never trains AI on your data. Everything can be exported as JSON and CSV at any time, and a district can delete any record or the whole organization. Security.

Who is behind Beacon?

SYV Technologies LLC, an Illinois company. Development began in September 2026 and the hosted service opened the same month. The About page says who makes it, how support works, how data agreements are signed and what is not built yet, and the changelog is dated by release.

Do we have to talk to sales?

No. There are no sales calls, demos with a person or booking links. You watch a 60-second video, start the pilot yourself, and email hello@beaconhelpdesk.com with questions; a person answers within one business day.
