On-premises

Beacon on a server you own.

For districts and agencies whose data must stay in the building. One bundle, one command, the full product.

What you receive

Signed beacon-onprem-<version>.tar.gz with SHA-256 checksum: beacon command (install, start, stop, status, logs, migrate, backup, restore, upgrade, doctor), Docker Compose (Postgres 16, API, web app, Caddy for TLS), systemd unit and nightly backup timer, source snapshot, install guide.

Requirements

Ubuntu 22.04 or 24.04 LTS, or RHEL 9 (Rocky and Alma), x86-64. 4 vCPU, 8 GB RAM, 100 GB SSD. Docker Engine 24 with the Compose plugin. One DNS name, ports 80 and 443. Air-gapped bundles include the images.

The install

Copy .env.example to .env, set hostname and secrets, run ./beacon install. 30 to 60 minutes, mostly the image build. ./beacon provision-tenant creates your organization and first admin. ./beacon doctor checks the host before and after.

TLS

Let’s Encrypt for internet-reachable hosts, your own certificate and key, or Beacon’s internal certificate authority for closed networks.

Single sign-on and email

Google Workspace, Microsoft Entra ID, Clever, ClassLink and generic OIDC. Email through your SMTP relay. AI triage is optional and needs outbound HTTPS to Anthropic and your own API key.

Backups and upgrades

./beacon backup: encrypted database dump plus attachments. ./beacon upgrade: new bundle, pre-upgrade backup, documented rollback. Versions match the cloud release.

How it works

Three steps, no sales call.

1. Request the bundle

A person replies within one business day.

2. Install and evaluate

Test host, real tickets. No license key, no time bomb, no deadline.

3. Order

Enterprise from $15,000 per year, quote-based, annual invoice, purchase orders accepted. The order form comes after the install works.
